Half Way Around the word without a plane

Break Down Story...

In Cambodia, buses are never really fast, and always really full...but our travel from Kampot back to Phnom Pen was a must.

Not only were we 55 people in a 30 seats bus...but it took us 7h for a 5h trip (100km), as we broke down twice!!!

First Break Down!

In this country (as in many outside white man countries...), a breakdown doesn't mean getting nervous or shouting at the driver...here, people just settle down the best they can and wait...they don't even enquire about what's going to happen!!!

Second break down...Romain catches up on "time" reading...

...While I look at Cambodia passing by....here's what I see...

This (note the motorbike on the roof)

This...yes, this is a manual Cultivator machine with a trailer !!!

Another trailer, moved by a Motorbike...

The side car version...

Green Family SUV!

This is a very artistic picture framing!!!

Amazing the stuffs you can transport on a motorbike!

Live pigs, here...but also chickens, ducks...U name it!

For small trips; the bicycles still have a good future...

I could post hundreds of those pictures, all strange, funny or typical...but I'm going to suggest you watch a very good french movie. The name is Dogora, by P. Leconte, and you don't need to understand french, as it is only pictures of Cambodia and music (red army style, but nicer). This movie shows really well the traffic in Cambodia, along with other daily scenes...

It's no documentary, there is no story...this might sound strange but it's a very good movie...as only a french director could have dared...
